Today a horrible event occurred. There was a great fire that started in the barn of one of the residents of Chicago that hit the hay and took off running. Luckily the fire did not burn my house but for a lot of the people in Chicago they aren’t so lucky. It lit up the night time sky like a candle and from what I can see 10 houses have been burned down but I am going to bed and see what has all happened in the morning.

Today I woke up to a smoke smell that has filled the air of Chicago. I went outside and noticed that with all the smoke in the air it has blocked the sun and there is hardly any sunlight that can be used. You see people walk around outside with pieces of clothing over their faces and hope that the piece of cloth acts as a filter as they breath. The day goes on and the smoke gets thicker and I wonder how in the world we are going to put the fire out. As I get set to go to bed I notice that the sky night is not as bright as the night before so I start to think that the fire is starting to go down.

Today the fire has finally went out and people are trying to figure out how much damage has been done. As I stroll down the streets I see people crying in front of burnt down houses and barns. I have also noticed that there are people dragging out dead bodies out of homes of where old people had lived. It has been said that more than 50 people gave gone missing since the fire has started. There are people trying to figure out how many people have been killed, how many houses have been burned down, and the amount of damage that has all occurred.

Today the people are trying to figure out what started the fire. They have decided where the fire had started but can’t answer the question how it got started. People believe that there was a lantern in the barn and that a cow had knocked it over. Then with all the straw on the ground the fire took off and burned the barn down. Then the fire went from the too a near by house then the down caught on fire. That is how people believe that the Chicago fire happened.
